Episode 102: Tim Ryan (CSIRO) - Part 1

In this episode we hear Part 1 of Craig's interview with Tim Ryan, a former Senior Experimental Scientist with CSIRO, based in Hobart. Although recently retired, Tim continues to be very active in his specialty area of marine acoustics. He first joined CSIRO in 1996, following several voyages on RV Aurora Australis in contract work for the Australian Antarctic Division, including a challenging voyage to Heard Island. You will hear Tim also talk of his time at Casey Station, as part of a team investigating potential environmental  impacts from a 'tip site'. Tim's key interests have included the application of acoustic and optical technologies to understand the marine water column ecosystems, and including application to assess stocks of commercially important deep-water fish species, such as orange roughy and blue grenadier. Part 2 of Tim's interview will feature in the next episode of Vibes Under The Sea.
