Episode 8: Dr Ben Scoulding (CSIRO) and Caroline Sutton (CSIRO)
This episode features a joint interview, with Dr Ben Scoulding and Caroline Sutton, who are scientists in the Acoustics and Pelagic Ecosystems team in CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere. Ben's specialty is fisheries acoustics and Caroline is a marine biologist whose expertise includes micronekton ecology. In addition to hearing about their respective paths into marine science, you will hear Ben and Caroline discuss the activities of the recent Southern Ocean Large Areal Carbon Export (SOLACE) voyage on RV Investigator, employing three different methods (1) trawl nets, (2) acoustics and (3) cameras, as part of exploring the role of micronekton as biological vectors in carbon transport in the Southern Ocean.
