Episode 70 - Dr Kirrily Moore (TMAG) - Part 1

Dr Kirrily Moore, marine scientist and Collection Manager for Invertebrate Zoology at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG), is Craig's interview guest in this episode. Kirrily provided so many interesting stories during her interview that she occupies not only this episode but also the episode ahead (No. 71). In Part 1 we hear of the early experiences that led to her career path in marine biology; "not whales or dolphins but polychaete worms!" Kirrily also relates how previous volunteer work she had done played a very significant role in landing her a marine ecologist job with CSIRO's Centre for Research on Introduced Marine Pests (CRIMP) in Hobart and to 5 years with CRIMP conducting surveys of invertebrate populations at many large ports nationwide. Other interesting tales include her 3 years in the "Smelly Lab" at the Australian Antarctic Division.
