Episode 65: RV Investigator confirms the location of the wreck of the MV Blythe Star, and more...

In lieu of an interview guest, for this episode Craig reads several recently published articles with marine flavours. The first article, from CSIRO, relates the role of the RV Investigator in confirming the location of the wreck of the MV Blythe Star, which disappeared off the SW coast of Tasmania in 1973. Then follows two articles from the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, University of Tasmania, about new funding to assist the recovery and conservation of populations of the highly endangered red handfish, and the calls of scientists for urgent conservation efforts to save the Maugean skate in Macquarie Harbour from extinction. From the Australian Antarctic Division, an article on Krill Observational Mooring for Benthic Investigation (KOMBI) - technology providing invaluable information on biomass of krill in the Southern Ocean. And finishing with two articles from the Australian Institute of Marine Science: one about advances in Australia's development and testing of autonomous and remotely operated vehicles/vessels, and another on the Reef snapshot: summer 2022/23 multi-agency report on the health of the Great Barrier Reef.
