Episode 57: Emeritus Prof. Bob Lester (UQld)

My guest in this episode is Emeritus Professor Robert (Bob) Lester of the School of Biological Sciences at University of Queensland. Bob is an expert in the ecology, systematics, host-parasite interactions, and control of parasites of economically important marine species. His research interests include the application of marine parasitology to fisheries management and aquaculture; in fisheries for oysters, prawns, sea-caged salmon, wild tuna fisheries and others.

Although Bob is not a Tasmanian-based scientist, at various times during his long research career he has been intimately involved in collaborations with Tasmanian scientists and with our State’s fisheries management on fisheries with great relevance to Tasmania, including orange roughy, couta, and Atlantic salmon. You may think the topic of fish parasitology to be one perhaps lacking in interesting vibes. Well, I invite you to listen to Bob's 'parasitological journey' to date and hopefully you'll revise such thoughts!
