Episode 99: Max McGuire (CSIRO)

In this episode, Craig's interview guest is Max McGuire who is a Marine Operations Team Leader and Voyage Manager for Australia’s Marine National Facility, RV Investigator, based at CSIRO in Hobart.  Max's work experiences have been extensive and varied, to say the least. As an expedition leader, naturalist and lecturer, he managed small ship cruises and expeditions in many remote regions of the world, on a variety of vessels. As a Master Mariner, Max went on to operate large, live-aboard dive vessels in remote tropical locations throughout Australia, Papua New Guinea and SE Asia. He also spent a decade running private motor yachts throughout the Western Mediterranean and, prior to joining CSIRO in 2013, was Captain of an accommodation vessel operating along Western Australia's Pilbara coast in support of Chevron Australia's LNG Wheatstone Project. You will hear Max talk very engagingly about his maritime history of the past 35 years, having worked and travelled in all the world's oceans and including diving in many exotic locations. He also provides insights into his roles as a member of RV Investigator's management team and talks about some of his experiences from his many voyages onboard.
