Episode 93: Brett Mawbey (IFS)

The interview guest in this episode is Brett Mawbey who is Team Leader for Fisheries Operations at the Tasmanian Inland Fisheries Service (IFS).  Brett started with IFS as a junior officer at the age of 17 in 1986 and, apart from a couple of years away interstate, he has spent the past 38 years working in various roles at IFS in conservation, environmental monitoring, hatchery management, and fisheries compliance.  You will hear Brett relate very interesting stories around his career path and the history of IFS, and his revealing comments around the challenges posed to life/work balance by having to spend a large amount of time doing fieldwork all over Tasmania, including very remote locations. He also provides insights into the day-to-day operations of IFS for the various fisheries (including trout, eels, and whitebait) which will be of great interest to many; fishers and non-fishers alike.
