Episode 92: Dr Amelie Meyer (IMAS) - Part 2

This episode features Part 2 of Craig's interview with Dr Amelie Meyer, of the Centre of Excellence for Climate Extremes at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, University of Tasmania.  And we pick up where we finished in Part 1, with Amelie telling the story of the 85 days she spent in 2015 on a sea ice drift, aboard the research vessel RV Lance, as part of her postdoctoral fellowship with the Norwegian Polar Institute, investigating ocean-ice interactions in the changing Arctic; including the challenges posed by polar bears and unpredictable sea-ice thickness. We also hear of Amelie's enthusiasm around the supervision of postgrads, encouragement for those considering a career in oceanography and climate change research, and her passion for science communication and outreach. The episode concludes with a reading of a recently published article on RV Investigator's latest voyage off the SE Australian coast and how eDNA is being used as a tool to investigate changes in biota over the past 25 years.
