Episode 79: Captive breeding of the endangered red handfish, and more…

In lieu of an interview guest, in this episode Craig reads recently published on-line articles with marine flavours. The first article relates the exciting, successful birth of “babies” of the endangered red handfish in the captive breeding program of the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS), University of Tasmania. The articles that follow include: IMAS’s research to examine presence of marine biotoxins in two species of commercially harvested sea urchins; CSIRO’s investigations into impacts of climate change on Torres Strait fisheries; A report on the recent first voyage of icebreaker RSV Nuyina to Antarctica; and An elusive Pacific Ocean whale species only known by the sound of its voice.
