Episode 46: Dr Madi Green (CSIRO)
Craig's guest in this episode is Dr Madi Green, a post-doctoral research fellow with CSIRO Oceans & Atmosphere. Madi is a marine biologist and a forensic fisheries ecologist, who applies molecular tools to seek solutions to better understand, measure and manage fishing activities globally. Madi talks of her Honours project on Galapagos shark populations in the southwest Pacific Ocean and her PhD which assessed the population structure, genetic diversity and connectivity of commonly exploited shark species in Papua New Guinea. She also relates her current research in developing a fisheries independent method using environmental DNA (eDNA) to reconstruct target and by-catch for fisheries vessels operating in Pacific and Indian Oceans. And Madi also talks about "Otlet", an award winning global open-access platform she co-founded, to share and provide access to biological samples.
