Episode 43: Dr Nick McClean (University Technology Sydney)

The interview guest in this episode is Dr Nick McClean, a Research Fellow at International Studies and Global Societies, University Technology Sydney (UTS), who is currently based at the CSIRO Marine Laboratories in Hobart. Nick is “an interdisciplinary social scientist working on environmental and natural resource management, and with a specialisation in fisheries and marine resource governance” (from his UTS profile). His areas of expertise include: the socio-economic, cultural and governance aspects of fisheries and marine systems; biodiversity conservation and protected areas; and community based and Indigenous-led environmental management. In his very engaging style, Nick talks of the various research projects that have featured along his career path to date, including those examining the social aspects of fisheries in Indonesia and the Solomon Islands, and his current collaborations with CSIRO.
