Episode 109: Jeff Cordell (Cordell Marine) - Part 1

Jeff Cordell is a specialist in marine electronics. He was a Senior Technical Officer at the CSIRO Marine Laboratories in Hobart for 34 years, and following retirement in 2020 he established his own firm Cordell Marine, specialising in instruments and electronics for sailing vessels. In addition to being a marine sparky, Jeff is also a passionate yachtsman, with sailing having been and continuing to be a very big part of his life. He is a former Commodore of the Bellerive Yacht Club and he’s sailed in many of the big yacht races around our nation, including eight Sydney to Hobart races, around fifteen Launceston to Hobart races, and eighteen Three Peaks races. Among the many interesting stories that Jeff relates, you will hear his account of being skipper of a yacht in the 1998 Sydney to Hobart race in which six sailors tragically lost their lives.
