Episode 49: Eldene O’Shea (CCAMLR)

Craig’s interview guest for this episode is Eldene O’Shea, a Compliance Officer with the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) and who is also a fisheries management practitioner. You will hear Eldene relate his interesting path into marine sciences, significantly influenced by his time living for several months in Samoa as part of the post-tsunami recovery effort in 2009. He provides an informative description of CCAMLR; its history, organisational structure, and its roles, and about his own role in assisting the member countries to meet their obligations to the Commission. Participating in the first science voyage of RV Investigator and being a life-guard and water safety advisor to the TV program “Survivor” are just two of the many other interesting topics that Eldene talks about.
