Episode 17: Dr Benita Vincent (Benni Marine Designs)

The interview guest in this episode is Dr Benita Vincent (aka "Benni"). Benni is a marine scientist, formerly with CSIRO, who specialised in immunological research around Amoebic Gill Disease (AGD) in farmed salmon and also was a member of the Bees with Backpacks project. Several years ago, Benni's life took a very big turn with her founding a business named Benni Marine Designs; a textile design business that translates the patterns, colours and textures of the marine life, which she observes through her passion for diving and underwater photography, into a wide range of clothing and other textile products. You will hear Benni relate how her creations are successful in generating conversations around marine conservation. You will also hear her talk about the Invasive Starfish Clean Up, Tasmania program that she initiated and coordinates. The episode concludes with a couple of articles on the recent research voyage of RV Investigator, the CSIRO Marine National Facility, exploring the Indian Ocean Territories.
